Guns N' Roses vs. Van Halen

I dont think you need a big discography to be a great rock band, I just think Guns n Roses shouldve stopped at The Spaghetti Incident or maybe even at Use Your Illusion 2.
They would still have been great even if they had just done the 4 albums.

G'N R really could have done without The Spaghetti Incident IMO....not that it's all bad but this was a time when we would see Axl on television singing with alot of other people , helping them to butcher their tunes. The Tom Petty and Axl pairing was the most priceless.

I still will not forget thje look on Petty's face unplugging his Rick looking all P***ed off at the end of Free Falling....or (Axl hogging his mic) FREEEEEEEEEEE FREEEEE FAAAAAAA-LLLIN'' AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH FREEEEEEE AI AI AI AI FALLLLLLLL-EEEEEEEEN!



Having said that...I like Appetite and both Use Your Illusions even if there were spotty tunes. But Van Halen just had better songs as a whole...and that's only my opinion. Both bands are different and good at what they do.

I didnt mind Spaghetti incident but wouldnt have cared if it wasnt made.
They could have gone out after Use Your Illusion.
By the way not saying Van Halens discography is bad, its good but you dont necessarily need a huge set to be great, to me its quality over quantity

I hear ya...and I like G'N'R enough to see why some people would vote for them. They were a great band afterall....I'd be a hypocrite to say otherwise since I own all their main CD's.

Guns is one of my favorite bands and I will always defend Axl's merit as a singer and musician but even I think "The Spaghetti Incident?" was a mistake. The production was blah (not that it needed to be good since most of the covers were dirty garage rock songs anyway) and they really sounded tired as a band, especially Axl vocally.
