Original VH for me but the original G'N'R were an awesome unit, let's try and forget the pantomime act of the same name that masquerades nowadays....

Van Halen (DLR Era). As much as I like Appetite For Destruction, GNR is highly overrated IMO.

I like both, but I like GNR better.

It's realy hard to compare. Both bands had an amazing debut album. Both bands had an amazing front man and guitarist. Both bands had great songs. If you take into account the Hagar days and the very few albums that GNR put out this would be a draw. I can't pick.

Van halen all the way - especially based on their first 6 albums. First guns album was good but they petered out after that

Van Halen. Just about all their songs are great.

never was a GNR fan. When they came out in 1987, I had already moved on from rock to heavier metal i.e. thrash, speed, etc....

I was a huge VH fan from 1978 to about 1982, then just a regular fan from then on, even the VHagar stuff I liked but not like a huge fan.
