One of the greatest forgotten albums of the 1960s is White Noise's "An Electric Storm" - it features Delia Derbyshire (she who electronically realised Ron Grainger's composition and created the Dr Who theme in 1963), and is like music made on another planet.

It's a life-changing experience, it's that good.

There are loads of very cool 60's Garage beats bands from Australia. Try Black Diamonds, Wild Colonials, Creatures, Cult, Easybeats, D-Coys, Elois, Atlantics: badarses all.
There's a great 4 vol compilation that is out of print called Ugly Things. you might be able to find on a blog somewhere. That's a great place to start.
