Mike Stuart Span.....there is an anthology called Timespan worth checking out.... they became Leviathan and broke up....great heavy blues rock psych pop imho.

Apparently two of them became Supertramp and the other wrote lyrics for Crimson.....wow.
I almost got them confused with The Idle Race which was Jeff Lynne's old band.
