I'll buy the bonus tracks off Amazon if possible. I don't deal with ITunes.

If there's no other way, I'll download the "videos" from youtube & convert them. Not the best way to go, but if they make it impossible any other way.......I'm just sayin'.

Out of all the new albums I've picked up recently, the new Xandria album is maybe the best one. That's saying a lot because the new Epica album is incredible.

Xandria's new singer, Dianne van Giersbergen is truly amazing. I thought the previous singer, Manuella Kraller was one of the best I'd ever heard (and she is), but Dianne takes her vocals to an almost Tarja level.

A completely listenable whole album experience, over and over.

I'm with you on Xandria. Of all the recent female fronted releases, "Sacrificium" is probably my fave (and Dianne has become one of my favourite female voices in metal - she sounds just as great live!), followed by "Savn" (Savn), "The Human Contradiction" (Delain) and "Argia" (Diabulus in Musica) - so far the big surprise for me this year in this genre. I still haven't listened enough to Epica to rate it, but so far I've found Xandria, Savn, Delain and Diabulus in Musica more enjoyable - my gut feelings tells me Epica will rise above or to the same level as some of those after more spins though. The new Stream Of Passion also has potential to be up among my favourite female fronted metal releases this year, but I need to listen to it more to really judge it.

Btw, have you heard a band called Ancient Bards? I knew their singer Sara Squadrani from the last Ayreon record, but hadn't heard her own band until last week. I was pleasantly surprised! Being on Limb Music Records, I expected them to be crap, but they are actually VERY good. Sara has an outstanding voice!!!!

^^ I'm a big fan of the debut, but I was disappointed with the first track I heard from the new album. "Soldier" sounds much better though, lifting my hopes for "High Priestess" again! Nice video also!

That song reminds me very strongly of something I can't remember.

Good track though.

I've heard this band before, but they never really hooked me, but I came across their new single this morning and I must admit, the song has something that made me go back to it a couple of times. I know the song is kindda poppy and I don't know if the band is generally considered metal or not, I just went by the fact their CDs usually stand in the metal section at the local record store.

Not really a huge fan of the term female fronted but I do like plenty of bands that just happen to have a female member.

Totally agree with ya, RR. It's such a general pointless term covering a large variation of music, which happens to have a female on vocals. Nevertheless, this thread seems to be thriving, so I'm just going with the flow and will leave it up to people themselves to separate the mentioned bands into genres.
