Not he's not really known as a "slide player," per se, I've always LOVED Jimmy Page on in My Time Of Dying." God I love Zep's version of this. It brings back some cool memories. Top 3 Zep tune for me...Maybe my favorite Zep tune. Anyway, Page plays a nice gritty slide here, so... What a great jam!!!!
OK, I've got a favorite slide player, Jack White, White Stripes. He also plays a gritty slide, which I dig.
This performance is just killer. it totally blew me away when I first saw it!
It was taken off YT for a while, but it's back up. Crank it up because this is pure 100% awesome!.
And on a related note to my Zep, "In My Time of Dying " post. I found this vid which is pretty cool.
Billy Gibbons and Jack White are pretty impressive and most of the other slide players mentioned here are also pretty damned good. Dave Hole is also a good slide guitar player too.
Bonnie Raitt was always one of my favorite slide guitar players. I went to see POCO a couple of weeks ago and I have to tell you that Rusty Young can still play a mean dobro and pedal steel.
Hailing from Chicago ..the little know but rather good Steepwater Band ...a trio of Jeff Massey (guitars and vocals), Joe Winters (drums), and Tod Bowers (bass)
