Anyone here know of
Seventh Wave?
I saw them on what was probably their only ever tour back in 1974.
Best 17th birthday present that I ever had!
They were a keyboards/synth band fronted by
Ken Elliott who had been in psych band
Second Hand with Kieran O'Connor but they fell out and the band split. Seventh Wave was his next band and O'Connor came back on board, but it didn't last long, just long enough to produce the classic albums
'Things to Come' (1974) and
Psi-Fi (1975) These are two great albums, ones which were very much ignored by the press and critics, but I still cherish them and play them very regularly. Decca/Gull thought that they were on to the new Mike Oldfield when they picked up this band, but it all turned to sh*t when Elliott and the drummer O'Connor fell out (again!) and the band split.
Elliot subsequently went on to carve out a minor solo career with the awful disco-themed album
'Body Music' before moving into jingles and TV stuff. He it was who created the intro music to ITN's
News At One fronted by Gordon Honeycomb amongst others.
I really cannot recommend these albums highly enough!
