^^^ I agree, that right there is my favorite Clapton. The Cream Clapton!
The Clapton from The Bluesbreakers, Yardbirds, and (especially)Cream: love it, a frikkin legend, one of the greatest ever.
Clapton from Blind faith and Derek/Dominoes: great stuff, different direction starting to cool off (I will say those extended blues jams on the Layla outtakes are superb).
Clapton '74-'77: cool vibe, mellow stuff. Seemed like he loved music again.
After that, I like some tracks here and there but I can take it or leave it.

I think I enjoy the cream era Eric more than any other era in his timeline.
Other than a few moments when he was with John Mayall, of course. Eric was at his most experimental point in his music and he said himself that when he was playing with cream he was just playing "what was fun to play."

I thought this was a great pic of EC....It`s great to see that after all these years that he can still get excited about a guitar. It`s my current pc wallpaper.

^^^ holy crap, if you didn't tell me that was Clapton, I never would have guessed. I mean, knowing know that it's him in those pictures, I can see it in his face, but if these were posted anywhere outside of this forum or in a non-musical setting, I am not sure I would have made the connection
