I’m just injected a little life here.
I took my mother to an Elton John tribute show last night. The performer did not particularly look or sound like Elton; merely it seems just celebrating his career by playing somewhat faithful versions of his songs. I’ve never been interested enough in seeing Elton perform live but I will listen to a number of his early songs and appreciate his contributions.

I saw Elton JOhn with his original band in Oct 1973 at IU Bloomington IN
I have the first 4 or 5 on vinyl (and cd) as well as one or two others like Yellowbrick Road and Capt Fantastic.
I think Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Acrosss the Water are must haves for collectors of solid pop rock.

The only EJ Album/CD I've ever bought is Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. My favourite songs are Your Sister Can't Twist (But She Can Rock'n Roll), All The Young Girls Love Alice, Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, and Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting. And there's a couple others from other albums that I like, but, considering how many songs he and Bernie wrote, it's not a high percentage.
