I grew up with Elton John's music, I really like his early material the most. I felt that his last really good album was Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, and when Rock of the Westies was released I pretty much stopped collecting his albums. I would say that he just had a certain magic with Bernie Taupin early in his career, and later he became more Pop and less Rock, even though he still kept cranking out the hits.

Studio Albums

Empty Sky (1969)
Elton John (1970)
Tumbleweed Connection (1970)
Madman Across the Water (1971)
HonkyChâteau (1972)
Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player (1973)
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1973)
Caribou (1974)
Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (1975)
Rock of the Westies (1975)
Blue Moves (1976)
A Single Man (1978)
Victim of Love (1979)
21 at 33 (1980)
The Fox (1981)
Jump Up! (1982)
Too Low for Zero (1983)
Breaking Hearts (1984)
Ice on Fire (1985)
Leather Jackets (1986)
Reg Strikes Back (1988)
Sleeping with the Past (1989)
The One (1992)
Duets (1993)
Made in England (1995)

Re: Elton John

LG, I dont have a single piece of Elton John in my library!! It is not that I dislike him, I just never collected his music. :coffee:

I might get one of the Greatest hits albums...although these compilations dont always do the artist justice.

I do love his collection of eye wear.

Re: Elton John

I only like his early years, he was very good and we partied to his tunes quite a bit, seeing the girls all liked his music. Plenty of time for Zep and other harder stuff when we were rockin' on our own.

I think Honky Chateau would be my favorite album, the only reason I got the compilations was because when the CD's were being released they almost Always did the hits packages first, then the complete albums came later,,,love Island Girl off Vol 2 though.:D

Re: Elton John

I'm a hated enemy of Elton John.

:bricks:

Enemy is a strong word....maybe we should throw bricks at you! :lmao:

Why do you hate EJ?

I liked some of his songs, and his work for the Disney "Lion King" was perfect for that animation!

He is a great songwriter, you have to give him that credit :)

It's mutual. Elton has never once had a kind word for me either.

And you know how a lot of those upper class Brits treat foxes....

Maybe Fox just dispises the greatest works :****: lol

EJ is a pop singer, but the man is a talented songwriter, that is the only reason I have respect for him.

Re: Elton John

I also respect his courage, although completely eccentric and self absorbed like most Rock Diva's male or female, he was one of the first gay artists to come forward and blaze the trail for others who followed. And this was back in the mid-70's when it took a lot of guts to do something like that. He still remained popular and toured and we never thought any less of him as a result of his sexual preferences. He also does a Huge amount of charity work for the Aids foundation, which I applaud.

Talented performer and gives of himself for causes he believes in, so I respect him on two levels.:D
