^^Yes Tray I believe he does indulge in a lot of effects at his shows, kind of necessary seeing it's completely instrumental.

while I love plenty of modern electronica you need to go back to the beginning
Wendy Carlos's- Switched on Bach(couldn't find any on youtube)
here is someone doing sort of the same thing

Then my favorite early 70's stuff
Isao Tomita-Snowflakes are dancing

Steve Hiilage-mid 70's

As far as modern:
You guys have mentioned a bunch of good ones
How about Air

Zero 7

System 7

Sub Sub(before the band became the Doves)

Aktivator - Those 70's tracks were great stuff! Thanks for that~

Glad to hear someone likes Wendy Carlos. I really like the Tron soundtrack!

Tron Soundtrack - Sea of Simulation

Tron Soundtrack - Scherzo

Also really like the Clockwork Orange soundtrack...

Here is a great combination, Jon Anderson and Vangelis:

yeah the Tron and Clockwork orange stuff is great.
I actually bought Wendy Carlos's -switched on Bach in the 70's so I'm a longtime fan. Have you heard Tomita before his redone classical stuff is amazing.

While I wont get into the dance/trance/techno debate, I will mention this group as I haven't seen them mentioned yet.. From Gernany

Tangerine Dream

They go back to the sixties and have always been known for their movie soundtracks. They do however produce a lot of "Rock" oriented electronica

A couple of soundtracks

Some great mood music

Here they are live

A little history on them in their "Acid Rock" days (In German)

^^You beat me to TG GG...but that's okay I was hoping someone mentioned them.

I love the soundtrack to Sorcerer.(Based on the novel "Wages of Fear".) They have done 100's of recordings over the decades. Some classify them as a massive Krautrock band, but I have always thought they were part of the Electronica movement as well.

Yes, I am familiar with "Wages of Fear". I haven't read the novel but do own the DVD of the movie. I also have the movie "Sorcerer" on DVD.. I actually saw the movie when it was released in theaters back in the 70's and really enjoyed it.. It left an impression on me and the soundtrack was a big part of that.
