Re: Electric Light Orchestra

My older brother saw them on the "Out Of The Blue" tour with the giant space ship, I think it was that one ... anyway he still rates it as one of his favourite concerts.
I had a pile of their singles I bought in the 70's when I couldn't afford albums.

Re: Electric Light Orchestra

I just picked up "Out of the Blue" a few months ago, for some reason I never bought the double vinyl album when it came out...:dunno:

I guess none of the songs really grabbed me and the price for the time was too much so I bought two other albums instead most likely.

Yeah the spaceship was one of the coolest stage setups of it's time, if he ever got the band back together and toured I would hope they brought that back too.

^^^That's a pearler track Lou, and if Jeff Lynne got with the band again LG I would pull out all the stops to catch a gig.

Re: Electric Light Orchestra

Big news in ELO land today. The promotional website elo.biz that was launched 7 years ago with no content is now a living thing. T-shirt anyone? Hopefully this is the first step in the promotion of Jeff's new solo album that is supposed to be released this year.

"A New World Record" is my favorite ELO album followed by "Out Of The Blue".

Love ELO!:grinthumb

My favorite albums would probably be as follows:

A New World Record
Out Of The Blue
Time
Face The Music

And the rest are great too. Although I haven't listened to much after Time. Secret Messages was okay but Balance Of Power wasn't very good imho.

Also I have the remastered version of Time, and while not normally a fan of previously unreleased tracks (they're unreleased for a reason:D), it has a song that should have been on the album. Easily one of the best "unreleased" songs I've ever heard. From anybody.

Also have the Live At Wembley dvd. It has the entire Discovery album with every song having an accompanying video. There's no denying that Dicovery was their "disco" album, however, the videos have a certain camp charm.:D

You can see an example of the "camp" in this video. Enjoy!

And then there's the whole Fire On High controversy. Jeff Lynne, of all people, was accused of putting satanic messages into his songs. Backward masking and all that rubbish. Anyway he answered the charges by putting gibberish at the beginning of Fire On High. The backward message sounds pretty harmless to me. You guys be the judge.

The song itself:

And two interpretations of the beginning of the song:

Oh, what a bunch of evil bastards!:D

Well my father used to say that if a man looks better than the devil, he'd have to be considered handsome. I suppose then that Jeff Lynne passes the test.

Billy Joel knows.
Re: Electric Light Orchestra

My favorite track: Twilight. It has a backward message which leads in. Play it on your pc and it'll try to sell you something. They have a cool catalog to cherry pick goodies.
