Just been reading quotes from Ray Manzarek that the biggest influence on The Doors was the Northern Ireland band 'Them', which was fronted by Van Morrison. Manzarek said that he and Jim Morrison were drawn in by the 'darkness' of Van. They continually played the band's debut album 'Angry Young Them'. This all came as a bit of a surprise to me. My only recollection of 'Them' is seeing them on the TV performing 'Here Comes The Night' around 1965. Van left in 1966 to pursue his solo career.
Are there many Doors bootlegs out there?Of course,I hardly expect anyone to match the bootleg catalog of the Grateful Dead, but with all the many many live club and larger venue concerts the band played, certainly Doors bootlegs would be VERY interesting to hear, particularly different versions of "Light My Fire".................
