This is rather upsetting. Don Kirshner made so much happen for so many talented musicians. I don't think it needs to be said, but he was an absolutely necessary figure in rock history.

So sorry to read this. I loved Don Kirschner's Rock Concert on ABC back in the day.

Bummer! I'm with you Truckin. Don Kirshner's Rock Concert was a staple on Saturday nights thru my teens. DKRC was one of the only outlets to see bands preform on TV.

:( Sad news, a legend in the business.

Here's Don Kirschner introducing Kiss and The Ramones on Don Kirschner's Rock Concert...with his famous classic cue card introductions...

That appearance by Kiss is what really put me over the edge of becoming a music freak. I had just discovered Kiss after my Sister bought me Rock & Roll Over Which changed my music tastes forever. Shortly after that Kiss appeared on Don Kirshner playing I Want You, Hardluck Woman, & Love em Leave em & that performance is what turned me into a music freak.

There was one show with Alice Cooper that was unreal. I seen that clip twice back then & was never able to find it again. It was probably footage from 72 of the band performing School's Out but they mixed in the Hanging scene & it was unbelievable footage!

This is the sort of Music person the world needs now !
:(

An innovator and clever insight ..opened doors for SO many artists..this where they USED to find new bands..new talents..

he found or helped promote :Carole King, Neil Sedaka , Neil Diamond Bobby Darin... in The Brill Building music world when he founded ALDON music in the early 60's

he was one of The Masterminds behind The Monkees too !

Amazing life and contribution to music ! Rest In Peace Don Kirshner :cheers2

He was integral to one of my favorite bands, "Kansas" making it big. And I also loved his "Don Kisrhner's Rock Concert".

Another legend is gone.:(
