I enjoy disco. True there was a lot of generic garbage in the genre, but can't that be said for pretty much every style of music that has had mainstream popularity?

Donna Summer's work with Moroder is some of my favorite music ever.

First time I heard that song was literally 10 minutes before my dad came back from work. That was back in 2006. It was the time when I was supposed to go to bed earlier because of school next day, but in fact I loved it so much I had to download it first. Turned off the computer and minute later he arrived. Next day I blared this song (after dad left for work) so much my mum was well pissed off. "WILL YOU STOP PLAYING THIS SONG, FOR F**K SAKE?"

Just to show you how wrong you are, The Commodores definitely played guitar...with some fat bass lines. The Commodores managed to make it into the top 10 rock charts, plus the disco charts, AND the pop charts in 1977 with:

And I'm not sure how the Commodores got lumped in with disco as they were more a funk band when they started out and then went more into Top 40 Soul and Pop rather than disco.

On another note, I've gotten into arguments with people over this next song being classified as disco. The group was maybe funk, maybe sould, maybe R & B, but they were definitely not disco.

Some great guitar work here. (but somehow gets lumped in with disco)

Ehh, I don't think disco was a clearly defined genre. If the music had a good dance beat and the disco clubs played it.........it was Disco


I can rember hearing the Isley Brothers played many many times when out dancing. I also can remember a lot of funk and R & B getting played too.
