DKW .. I agree the vocals on the tracks you mentioned are great and also I think Ian Gillan did a superb job on "When A Blind Man Cries" which is another one of those slow minor key songs that Ritchie has a feel for. Gillan and Coverdale up there with the best singers from the UK IMO.

Thats the one, not Mandrake Root. 34 minute of Wring That Neck

Though consulting the source of all knowledge [wikipedia...] Mandrake Root clocks in at a MUCH shorter time of 29 minutes and 40 seconds...

Yeah it is a tad shorter, such a fantastic album, I think I have the DVD somewhere:)

Throw in Glenn Hughes and I agree w/ you but would also add that they are three vocalist that are up there w/ ANYONE in rock history.

I like going back to their late 60s albums such as Deep Purple of 1969.
Bird has Flown

April. Lengthy but it was quite a good listen.

I personally enjoy albums like Fireball, In Rock, The Battle Rages On, Burn more but the really early albums like Shades of Deep Purple were under rated.

^^^ Got to agree there Riff the gear from the mk II line up is my favourite output but there are some cracking tracks on the first three albums.

^^ I was talking to the owner of record shop while holding DP's first album to ask the price for it. It costed £10, but if I had an original 1st pressing it'd be £500. :omg:

And The Address, Ian knows how to play cowbell properly. :heheh:

I really need to find a copy of The Battle Rages On too. I enjoyed the album when I heard it awhile back on youtube.

Man Deep Purple is such a summer band to me. When A Blind Man Cries and Hush are my favorites:

When A Blind Man Cries is such a pretty song, love the vocals. I mean Ian is the voice of Jesus isn't he? :D Such an underrated band!
