I always liked Deep Purple too but I only have one album by them...Machine Head. I may talk about Bruce 90% of the time, but I do appreciate all classic rock. :D

That record is in my top 25 albums of all time JG...:D

My brother got a copy when it came out and I have loved it ever since.

Wooo! Glad to see you liking Purples, JG. Machine Head is indeed a classic, but to me it is fighting for a spot in my top 3 favourite albums. What I love about it though is Glover's bass lines. On all tracks he plays on bass that makes my ears having a pleasure.

Agreed on all accounts but in my top 4 instead of 3

Machine Head is a great place to start your DP collection. You would think with LZ, Sabs and DP being regarded as the sort of Holy Trinity of 70s hard rock that I would have more of the latter two in my collection but that wasn't the case until I joined the forum. I usually won't get a live album until I get a good feel for a band's studio stuff so after I get a couple more DP albums I may have to get my hands on Live in Japan. I think that's the one I've heard nothing but crazy good things about.

"Made In Japan" would be the greatest live album of all time in my book, Jen. Deep Purple was on top of the world in 1972 when that album came out and they were so together as a band in that period. It all came together so perfectly that that album doesn't have nor did it need anything rerecorded on it.

Thanks Harm. Live albums aren't usually my thing but I've heard so many raves on it that I'll give it a shot.

Deep Purple is newly eligible in the Rock Hall of Fame threads over at the Rock Lounge. And they'll probably need your help. Come on over and check us out and make your voices heard.

One of the top 3 Cleveland snubs in my opinion. We need to make sure that isn't the case here. "Highway Star"--awesome.

Well I know you like "How The West Was Won" and if you liked how Zeppelin turned "Dazed Into Confused" and "Whole Lotta Love" into those massive jams then you'll love what Deep Purple does with "Lazy" and especially "Space Truckin'". :grinthumb

Any song in which I have enough time to take a pee break and make a sandwich seems a little too much even for Jimmy. :bonk: But hey, Space Truckin' is my favorite jam off of MH so I'll give it a whirl. :)

Actually, I'll take a 20 minute guitar jam over a drum solo anyday.

I talk Ac/dc or Megadeth 90% of the time, its good to have that band or artist you can enjoy to that level. :)
Machine Head if that were to be the only DP album I could have I would be happy.

Well....it's not 20 minutes but you might not be wild about the version of "The Mule" off of "Made In Japan" then. :heheh:
