I sing in the shower, in the car and anywhere else I can get away with it.
here is who I tend to sing:

1. Peter Gabriel
2. Tori Amos
3. Bob Dylan
4. Jeff Buckley
5. David Bowie
6. Fiona Apple
7. Jon Anderson
8. Bjork
9. Greg Lake
10. Kate Bush
11. PJ Harvey
12. Morrisey
13 Guy Harvey
14 Jimmy Gnecco
15 Eddie Vedder

Aktivator, I actually had Jimmy Gnecco on my list but replaced him. He's got an amazing range and one of the most powerful vocals I've heard! :cheers2

Range is overrated.....

some of the most annoying singers have big ranges.

A singer's tone is more important, imo.

Oh definitely, there's a lot of more technically gift singers I don't like myself Groovy but when you like the vocal AND they can do more with it it's twice as good IMO. :grinthumb

Some people get carried away with ''range''...and think it's the most important thing in judging a singer.

Tone, tone, tone.

I can't pick one over the other as their are different cases in artist I like, etc. A lot of times I'll like a vocalist just because they are great songwriters and know how to write music that brings out their voice and they are great storytellers. They sing in a way that I know 100% it's them. It's interesting though, a great modern folk singer Ray LaMontagne says that (not exact words) "All it takes is one note to draw an audience in!" He's got an amazing tone as well but he's right. In some cases less is more! :grinthumb

Ok, so it seems that the majority of the votes are in so over the next two-ish weeks I'll let any remaining votes trickle in before officially closing the polls on Friday the 8th.
