I'm going to start a thread that will hopefully get some responses, considering i'm still doing some deep searching on the topic. Ever heard of "Country Metal". Well I sure have, and there's a lot of it, just gotta dig.

Here's one:

Rebel Meets Rebel - Rebel Meets Rebel

David Allen Coe - Vocals & Guitar
Dimebag Darrell - Guitar & back-up vocals,
Rex Brown - Bass
Vinnie Paul - Drums

We raise a lot of hell, drink a lot of booze
Don't need a damn reason for the things we do
So break out the bottles and bring on the crowd
Exercise your freedom, rowdy and loud

Get down, let's jam
All night, that's right

Rebel meets rebel
And that means trouble
Rebel meets rebel
Double trouble

Rebel meets rebel, man to man
Renegade singer, outlaw band
Rebel meets rebel

Quitters looking back, 'cos there ain't nothin' to hide
It's just a get-together pf country/metal minds
Could it be the future, a sign of the times?
When rebel meets rebel, we're partners in crime

Get down, let's jam
All night, that's right

Rebel meets rebel
And that means trouble
When rebel meets rebel
Double trouble

Rebel meets rebel, we've got our pride
Like old Hank said, it's been a long hard ride
When rebel meets rebel

So this is what you were telling me about last night. :D I'll be checking it out tomorrow when I have more time. I never knew this genre existed though. Interesting!

How old is that Prime? I mean if Dimebag is in that group then, it's got to be fairly old.. But sounds like southern rock to me.. Don't see why it has to be called "METAL".. just saying..:peek

I have their album, Slip'n. It came out in 2006....2 years after Dime's murder.

The idea behind the group was David Allan Coe meets up with Pantera.....mix guitar shred with country twang.

Not a bad album, though.

Only reason I wouldn't class it as southern rock is mostly for the fact that it has more metal attributes that southern rock. Also, i'll be posting more artists that would be classified as country metal, and not southern rock. Though I guess one could argue that the two do sound alike.

Underschool Element

I'm a fat cowboy and live in a big ranch in Texas.
My life summarized in a cow herd and an old gray horse.
But one night, a cloud of locust killed my dear bovines.
Me and my horse, we pondered this crisis situation.

We left together to no man's land
Look for another and better life.

See the light
In the sky.

We met three wise men who had seen strange light too
We downed a few beers and then we left together,
We came to a little child who gave me an ox and a donkey
Jesus was his name man...!

Feel the light
In your life.

I think that we can call Assjack (Hank Williams III project) country metal. And his album "Hillbilly Joker" too.

Rebel Meets Rebel is awesome.

First band that came to mind was Molly Hatchet. Interesting term. I'm not saying I buy it but it is an interesting concept.
