I don't have any home recording gear :wa:

I mean I'm living in the now...home theater , flat screen t.v., high speed and all that but I have a couple friends who have that stuff and if I need to demo it's with them. I'm a singer. :heheh:

One being Jim from Gynger Lynn and he's like 2 hours a way from me :heheh:

...and Pat...who we would have to see how his schedules are.

This sounds like something fun though!! I was tickled reading it. :grinthumb

I'm with MP on this.. I don't have any software loaded for recording and my system in my music room is on it's last leg.. But I would like some input on how to set it up so that I can record..
I guess I can switch out my computer with my Dell I have that I'm not using much..
I'll watch how things progress in here..
Maybe it would be a good idea eberg to list what everbody wants to play..
I can play these instruments

Drums
Bass
Key's
Lead (but no way can I shred)
I also have some effects systems..
Line 6 Bass Floor Pod
Line 6 guitar effects pod
Akai drum kit
DJX II

I'm not too bad on backing vocals..

What kind of tune you looking to do? I've got some riffs lying around that don't fit in the context of my current band, I could probably demo something up.

If Pat's too busy let me see what I can do..no promises...but maybe I can see about doing some vox from his place if files can be sent his way.

I'd rather that than use freeware and a mic plugged in...

I'll list that, that's a good idea:grinthumb

and it's free, but you have to wait 5 seconds for an advertisement... if you don't want to wait you have to pay for it, but it is legal freeware, and actually very good

Anything, and everything... I can not really physically play modern metal(the fast/really ridiculously heavy stuff) but if you guys want to do one, I don't have to play on it, and I don't think we want to play much polka(correct me if I'm wrong:D) from there it is up to you....

I'm picturing Feldy doing dual banjo solos with Craig as well:tongue:

My playing is extraordinarily rusty. I just got back into guitar last summer after setting it aside for 30 years. And while I promised myself I'd get back to work on the banjo as well, I haven't made good on it.

This and this are pretty representative of my current abilities, and they're shaky, as you can hear.

I may have to sit this one out, though I'll be watching with great interest.

If your mind changes, you will definitely be welcome Craig:D

I've been playing for the past 7 years and what you played is more solid than anything I've recorded... so keep on pickin' pluckin' and strummin'

also you might have heard of this group, and if not I'm pretty sure you'll like them...

Thanks, eberg. Maybe as I see how it develops and where I might be able to fit in unobtrusively I might change my mind.

Not to derail the thread any further, but that Frogwhompers link was interesting. They obviously share a lot of the same influences that I have. If you think you might like bluegrass with a more ragged edge, I highly recommend a group that I think is out of Minnesota, called Trampled By Turtles. They seem at times to be teetering right on the edge of control, and it suits their music really well. They're also available at cdbaby. "Codeine" is a special favorite of mine. That album in the link is fantastic, but they also have another one with what I think may be one of the best-named songs of all time: "My Brother Works for the CIA When He's Not Doing Time." :D

I don't have any home recording gear anymore. All of that stuff is long gone. I appreciate the invite/offer, but I'll have to pass. However, I'll definitely keep an eye on this and see what you guys can come up with.
