I actually like the Live Aid performance of this song... I love it at about 2:30 in when Freddy comes in and sings some harmony for a few seconds... oh how I miss him so!!!!

Can't argue with Bob's self assessment on this subject.

Liked the concept of helping people but the music did nothing for me.

Not a Boomtown Rats fan either, right now my house is "Geldof" free and it's gonna stay that way...:heheh:

Can't comment on the rest of the Boomtown Rats discography (as I haven't heard it) but "I Don't Like Mondays" is a very powerful song and one I do enjoy, despite it's rather dubious subject matter :grinthumb

Also can't disagree with Geldof on his "We Are The World" and "Do They Know It's Christmas?" assessment.

Although, for any charity song to work on the level they did, it needs to fit with the trends of the time and, well, it was the 80's. :heheh:

Although I do like I Don't LIke Mondays...:grinthumb

I love that song. I'm also a fan of other Boomtown Rats songs and small part (the part I've actually heard of) of Bob solo work.

As far as Christmas songs go though I think there are many much more irritating songs than "Do They Know It's Christmas".

Both these songs are plastic as 80's MTV pop.

These songs were fake.

I agree, some of the ''worst songs in history."

I haven't see the video of ''We Are The Word'' in ages and won't toture myself to view it now. All I remember is Bob Dylan sticking out like a sore thumb, visually and vocally. I think he had no idea what he was getting into. I'm sure he secretly regrets it, today.

I was embarrassed for Bob.

I am not a big fan of these two songs, however I liked "The Boomtown Rats" and I liked one of the irish songs Bob Geldof did. He does come across a bit like Bono with his charity stuff though and that annoys me.

^^My brother liked the Boomtown Rats as well, but he never did convince me to get on board.

When I saw Bob Geldof in "The Wall", I didn't know what to think, but I have seen it about 3 times since the theatrical release and have come to appreciate his performance in the film.
