Have no clue about any of his music. I know him as the egomaniac responsible for that live aide shit in the 80's. Also, didn't he screw the singer from INXS's wife, then marry her and keep Michael Hutchens's daughter from him thereby throwing the INXS singer into a depression which resulted in his suicide? Nice guy.

^^I don't hold whatever any of these rock stars do in their personal lives against them...within reason. If Hutchen's wife left him then obviously something was wrong with the relationship...you can't blame all that on Geldof.
As for Live Aid, it was a good concept, to try and help people in desperate need of the basics of life, food, water, shelter and medicine. I didn't like the music that much but I give him props for trying to make a difference.
This is about his claim about writing two terrible songs in his own opinion TC, now that we've covered all this extra curricular stuff let's move back to the topic at hand.

I actually heard "Do They Know It's Christmas" a few days ago, on Last.fm.
