Re: Bob Dylan

i definitely don't think Empire Burlesque is the best example of Dylan rocking. i also don't think it should be cited as the best of him doing anything

I do. ''Clean Cut Kid'' rocks. :grinthumb

I love Bob Dylan, I have seen him twice and he was legend, I remember seeing him on the same bill as The Who.
Wow. What a show that must of been! :)

Re: Bob Dylan

I don't know every song or even every album from Bob Dylan, but almost everything I have heard I have enjoyed...

My favorite songs are the following:

Rainy Day Women
Visions of Johanna
I want you
Stuck inside of the mobile
Leopard skin pill box hat
Most likely you go your way
Obviously five believers
I throw it all away
Lay Lady Lay
County Pie
Tonight I'll be staying here with you
Quinn the Eskimo

If not for you
Forever Young
Tangled up in blue
Simple twist of fate
You're a big girl now
idiot Wind
Shelter from the storm
Baby let me follow you down
Girl from a north country
A hard rains...
Don't think twice
One too many mornings
Times are a changin
Motorpsycho nightmare
All I really want to do
My Back Pages
It ain't me babe
I don't believe you....
Like a Rolling Stone
Tombstone Blues
it takes a lot to laugh
just like Tom Thumb Blues
Hurricane
Joey
Romance in Durango
Maggie's Farm
Lay down your weary tune

I would say my favorite albums are:

Before the Flood
Live 1975
Real Live
Live @ Budokan
Dylan & the Dead
Live 1964
Hard Rain

Re: Bob Dylan

Hi,

I went on a Bob Dylan binge earlier this year. I was never into Bob but as a kid I remember my older brother being fanatical about Bob. He had all the albums up to that point (late 60s). He worshipped Bob like most of us younger kids worshipped The Beatles. I never thought of Bob Dylan as rock&roll though so I never gave his the albums much listen. I liked some of the 60s radio hits though.

Not sure what kicked of my Dylan binge. Might've been my brother's visit from Cali or something. Anyway, long story, short - I bought all these albums/CDs over a period of weeks in no particular order:

Bob Dylan
Freewheelin' Bob
Times They Are A Changin'
Another Side Of Bob
Bringing it All Back Home
Highway 61 Revisisted
Blonde on Blonde
Blood On The Tracks

I don't have time to go into detail about each one of these albums right now, but I'll just say I really love the early 60s stuff the most. My faves are Bringing It All Back Home, Freewheelin', and the first album. I never understood what everyone was raving about back then, but it finally took a hold of me. I understand now why The Beatles were so fanatical about Bob back then. I get it now. Better late than never. Gotta admit though the "Blood On The Tracks" didn't clikc with me.

Re: Bob Dylan

^^^ That's really great, Vic

I'm also a big fan of his 60's stuff too - it's what made him a legend.

Sure, I enjoy his 70's stuff and beyond, but Dylan in the 60's his music was hard to beat - it was amazing.

Can you believe it? - no videos for Dylan's ''Girl from the North Country'' on youtube, no more?....

Well, you can listen to it here...

one of Bob's best, from the folk days....

Re: Bob Dylan

I really love songs like "Masters Of War","With God On Our Side","Gates Of Eden," etc., etc. I love some of the humorous songs like "I Shall Be Free" too.

Well, I took me a woman late last night,
I's three-fourths drunk, she looked uptight.
She took off her wheel, took off her bell,
Took off her wig, said, "How do I smell?"
I hot-footed it . . . bare-naked . . .
Out the window!

Re: Bob Dylan

I've listened to Bob Dylan since i was very young, his "Royal Albert Hall" concert from 1966 being among my favourite live albums, when i think about it,i'd say i'd have to put him on top of my list of favourite artists/bands,i can truly understand when people say they dont like him,but i love the mans voice and lyrics.

Re: Bob Dylan

I don't mind Dylan, back in the late 70's I heard "Rainy Day Woman..." & got a kick out of it so I bought his greatest hits & hated it. I thought it was horrible & then one day while listening to QFM-97 they played "It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding" from his 'At Budokan' album & I loved it. Around that time he released 'Slow Train Coming' & I loved that album. I then began getting into the Greatest Hits & Older Stuff. I liked his 'Real Live'album especially because he had Mick Taylor & Ian McLagen in the band & I also really like the Live at Royal Albert's Hall 1966 especially when he went electric after the first half of acoustic numbers. That crack of the drums on after the short rhythm intro on "Tell Me Momma" was like the shot heard 'round the world
