Re: Blue Oyster Cult

^^I know one thing is certain my friend, if record labels Knew the end result of the combination of CD technology, the Personal Computer and the Internet they would Never have invented or distributed CD's and stayed with vinyl. Of course now engineers have enabled you to transfer your music to digital from a turntable, but I have to laugh my stylus on my old rig is more expensive than the USB TT's they are selling. Anyway the technology is there for whoever wants to use it now and there is no way to turn back the clock or put the genie back in the bottle.

Besides most of these old records upgraded to CD by the best labels I have paid for once or twice or more over my lifetime so I feel comfortable about the whole thing.;)

Re: Blue Oyster Cult

I like all of it the new and the old technology. I do take offence when people slam all digital as inferior though, I have numerous examples of CD's that are first class easily the equal of vinyl, and the sound system is critical to get the most out of them no denying that.

I lost most of my records years ago, so I have replaced them on CD and I don't like buying used vinyl online so I upgraded the Electronic side to get the best possible result from CD's/DVD's and I am happy with them. Of course I have about 200 records that survived the fire, but some are worn out completely and there is no way I can play them anymore.

What irritates me more than anything else is Losing all the engineering I have grown up with, getting the best sound possible from any source. Now kids just want an i-pod or a sound dock and think that is good enough..:mad

End of an era and that makes me sad.:(

Good song Rocker440.

Been having a string of good luck the last while picking up some "Deluxe" versions of some great old recordings. Two of them are BOC classic albums, their self titled debut packaged together with Tyranny & Mutation on a single CD, and Agents of Fortune as well. Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs is always a good label to check out when they remaster an old album, some purists don't like them fiddling with the original too much, but with a couple of exceptions every record/CD I have ever bought from them is an improvement over the original version.

I agree! I greatly enjoyed BOC including that song within their live set on the CE tour. It add another cool song to all of the other BOC material, and it does rock pretty good on it's own, too, imo! :grinthumb

Is there a lotto in your area, LG? Perhaps you might want to give it a try or two! :heheh:

I really like those two albums, and also with the both of them being issued on one CD! I don't know exactly how many two on one CD's Mobile Fidelity did issue, but those that were chosen were excellent choices, imo! I believe there were two TYA albums (Shhh.../Cricklewood Green) combined and issued on one CD, too! Great albums, choices and also fantastic songs/music! I really enjoy all of the OMR's and the overall superb sound quality of them, as well as the terrific job Mobile Fidelity did, too! :cheers2

^^Yeah we have a Lotto here Rocker, but all I ever win is free tickets...:(

Who knows, one of these days I might get lucky but I only buy a couple of tickets a week, I figure if I am destined to win then my chances are as good with one ticket as a hundred.:D

Re: Blue Oyster Cult

Dug this old beauty out and played it today, the first Live BOC album I bought. When I listened to the first time I didn't really think too much of it, but over time it's grown on me. While not possessing as many tracks as their double live album that came out a few years later I enjoy playing this one once in a while, and it has a killer cover too.

Re: Blue Oyster Cult

I grew up listening to BOC but mainly the semi-popular stuff, not the obscure stuff. About 3 years ago I stepped it up and found quite a few cd's of the older stuff. Havent heard anything in the last 20+ years, although I've heard "Heaven Forbid" once.

About 2 months ago, I found a goldmine of LP's for $1 each!! Everything from the beginning up to "Revolution By Night" (except the first album and "Cultosaurus").

I saw 'em play New Years Night 1984, Aldo Nova opened.

My faves are the 2 Martin Burch produced albums (Cult, Fire) and the live albums but I like everything I've heard or own.

Re: Blue Oyster Cult

I grew up to a few of their 70's albums and especally "Agents", "Some Enchanted Eventing", "Cultosaurus" and "Fire". I saw them New Year's night 1984 after buying "Revolution By Night" a couple months before.
I knew all the "hits" from the 70's and I had both live albums so I knew those songs, but not much else from the 70's catalog. A couple years ago I bought some "Best Of" cd's and recently aquired most of their 70's albums on vinyl, as well as "Revolution" and "Fire". The only must-have I don't have on vinyl (yet) is "Cultosaurus".

^^Cultosaurus Erectus is a must have SC, nice to see someone appreciating this old band even if you arrived "fashionably late" to the party.:cheers2
