The intro to Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress) by The Hollies. I remember hearing it the first time as a kid it gave me the chills and to this day it still does, every time I hear it.

I can list off a few, most of which are painstakingly obvious:

Procol Harum- 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale'
Beach Boys- 'God Only Knows'
Santana- 'Soul Sacrifice'
Joe Cocker- 'With A Little Help From My Friends'
Beatles- 'Dear Prudence'
Procol Harum- 'Homburg'
Donovan- 'Atlantis'
Cream- 'Sunshine Of Your Love'
Status Quo- 'Sunny Cellophane Skies'
The Stooges- '1969'
Yardbirds- 'Happenings Ten Years Time Ago'
Rolling Stones- 'Gimme Shelter'

IMO one of the most distinctive sounds I have every heard in an intro.

It's short but effective

Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers - Born to Loose

never forget that intro distinctive Thunders
