I'm a jazz guy, but I'd have to say the best "intro" in rock has to be Foxy Lady. That bending effect Hendrix does with the F# and Bb - following with the feedback that happens to be in A (a minor 3rd above the key) builds incredible tension - and just explodes with the opening riff in F#. I'm really not a big Hendrix fan, but that tune - especially the intro - is a different story. Smokin'!
