I vote for Metallica. Although there are many good bands in 80's. Judas Priest for example. Or Accept.

Metallica or Iron Maiden.

Heavy metal is a very broad term. I'd say Guns N Roses and Ac/Dc, but they'd probably come more under 'hard rock.'

Metallica owned the 80's. Maiden, Ozzy, Priest made some bad songs. Metallica did not. If we are saying the whole discography that's different. But 80's...it's Metallica
