Hi , I recently purchased a bunch of various photos/posters in frames from a friend of mine whom has moved since .... One of the ones i bought was a professional looking sketch of jim morrison from the doors , he is a rich kid so it is very likely this could be valuable.

I looked everywhere online including ebay, google img etc ... with no luck - it is very neatly done and in good shape though i have yet to take it out of its screwn together frame

Just wanted to see if this is a common piece or if it may be worth some money or not , i will take better pictures tonight and take a measurement .... i assume its about 26x18 or somewhere around there and has a "Rule" insignia in the bottom-right corner

thanks for any info you can give me ! :grinthumb

i was considering doing that but i wasn't really sure how big the market was for this type of memorabilia and not really sure what type of conservative estimate i could put on the value of it ... i suppose i could just make it a long auction and the highest bidder takes it but it would suck to find out it's a one of a kind type thing that may be worth even more

thanks for the reply

Try going to a pawn shop, they can possibly help you with authenticity and getting a value.

i wish we had a pawn shop like pawn stars on tv , if i took it to the ones around here i could totally see them staring at me blankly as i carry this thing in so i suppose i'll call around to those first then hit up the art galleries .... i have a feeling this will take a while to find out the value much less a buyer but im not in a hurry or anything so i will just be patient

thanks

Well I suppose somebody has to burst your bubble so it might as well be me. What you have there is a piece of sidewalk art, meaning the kind of thing sold by fellows on the streets of big cities who will do your portrait for ten bucks in fifteen minutes. It's a very poor resketching of a famous photograph of Jim Morrison. Sure, it's one of a kind, but only by definition since any drawing is one of a kind. But if you want to know whether it's any good, the answer is no.

If you think I'm wrong, ask yourself why you'd like to find a buyer. The answer will probably be that you don't like it very much. That should tell you something.

If you can get $70 for it on Ebay, good for you! It means you found a sap.

lol , yeh your correct anyone who is selling anything has to dislike it .... want it for 10 bucks ?

i don't have a problem with anyone being honest , especially when i am trying to find accurate info but from what i can tell you were on the hunt to burst "someone's" bubble today and it looks like i got to be that guy

anyways , if this is the original and only sketch like this then someone who loves the doors enough will take it off my hands .... and by calling it poor quality is disrespectful to the original artist as it obviously took awhile for it to be completed , the only question is it a reprint - what you called a "resketchhh" , it very well could be but i have yet to find anything close online

thanks for the positive input my friend !
