maybe to an extent, and more at the time, but at this point i think the biggest reason for a negative reaction to disco is that it's an obviously watered down corporate rehash of the killer funk that was going down at the same time. just ditch that 'lame' horn section and get a synthesizer....

as for the 80s my tops are the red hot chili peppers, soundgarden, and jane's addiction. while they might not be quintessential 80s bands, they all started out back then. just took a while before another generation of kids stepped up and away from stadium hair.

"Making Plans For Nigel"...XTC was okay, I only have one album which considering how productive they were is not enough to offer a qualified opinion.

Underrated I think would be my take on them.
