Total agreement with MP here the first 3 ANVIL albums are real scorchers!!. This Canadian band were a big favourite over here in the UK in the famous NWOBHM era of the 80s.
b.o.b I guarantee you would love this band.........
Heres another ANVIL classic......play it LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Anvil

I watched the anvil documentary last night,i thought it was great viewing,i never really heard of them before,i decided last night that i would check them out,now that i have i can see why they didn't make it big.
They're not for me but in saying that,i'd really love to see them get a big break and make it,they all came over as very likeable people who have put in a shitload of effort to something they clearly love doing,so good luck to them.

Well what can I say a top night was had by all. Good turn out ....ANVIL were great, such a fun band and went down a storm. "weve not played Sheffield since 1983!" said vocalist Lips...and a lot of you werent even born.....
Anvil played some old classics Mothra, winged assasin..forged in fire etc....and ended with metal on metal superb!!!!!!
Sweaty had a few beers:cheers2 .I bought the ANVIL "this is 13" cd and our guitarist Rockin Rob chatted up GIRLSCHOOL :heybaby: all night

I bet that was awesome to see, LOU. I am a fan of Anvil. The first three albums are definitly classic. I am partial to their 5th album.

Re: Anvil

You can never put a price on your enjoyment of music you love. I have been known to pay a fortune for imported CD's, and I have to say it was worth every damn dollar!

Since a couple of you guys went to see Anvil, did any of you happen to take any pictures that you could share? I would love to see some recent pictures of Anvil.

Re: Anvil

I have the "strength of steel " album too Music mistress...yes very good it is too....just getting into the "this is thirteen" album...only had it a few days..its ok has its moments but LIPS vocals arent as strong . ANVIL are now a three piece and to me are missing Dave Allison who added so much to the band.....

Re: Anvil

How old is Lips now? He has to be in his mid 50's. Age does something to the voice and so does smoking (if he smokes)

Re: Anvil

Anvil didn't hit it in the USA until '87 or so, which coincides with the "Strength of Steel" album. I don't believe they even toured in the USA until after the release of SoS, although I could be wrong about that.
