Joe Bosso from MusicRadar caught up with producer Jack Douglas & engineer Warren Huart to discuss Aerosmith's forthcoming album. In the interview, Jack hints that the album has a theme, a concept album:

Douglas: "We're going back to the rawness. There's something special about the vintage Aerosmith vibe, and that's what we have here. It's got that '70s feel and sense of humor. It's a bit of a concept album – there's a theme running through it, but I can't really talk about that right now. But to get that edge and spirit, it made sense to capture tracks live with the band playing all out.

Well I can't wait as I'm a fan, but to me a concept album is The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, or The Wall, or A Passion Play, or Quadrophenia, where's there's a continual narrative running from track 1 ..... to the end of the story at the final track. I'd be amazed if that's what they've done, but we'll see.

^^I agree...unless Aerosmith's theme is about scantily clad women and parties with their groupies.:heheh:

I would really like a return to the hard rockin' 70's sound, if they do have that vibe I will pick the new record up for sure.

Concept album hey? Sounds interesting and gives me even more reason to check this out on release.

Sounds pretty cool, I'm excited to see how it turns out. Honkin' on Bobo showed that they can still rock really hard when they want.

I hope it's not too concept album-y because Aerosmith just isn't that kind of band. I'm sure I'll pick it up regardless though.

I doubt it'll be concept-y in the Genesis/Floyd/Bowie/etc. sense. A lot of artists say they're going to do a concept album and then it never really gets off the ground, or just retains a VERY loose concept like Petty's The Last DJ. Dr. Dre said he was going to do a concept album too but it didn't end up materializing that way.

I really can't imagine Aerosmith doing a full blown concept album at all, but I guess we'll see.

I for one am keeping my fingers crossed for them to make something I will like. Early Asmith was excellent, then they turned to that mushy crap that still makes me barf in my mouth every time I hear it. Sure , they sold a billion albums with that formula, but they have beaten that horse to death..time to make something that will remind fans why they liked these guys in the first place.
