A Fillta, a traditional Corsican A Capella group. They excist around 30 years now.I saw them on a Dutch television show. Truly remarkable!!.

Short explanation:

A significant, though not the only aspect of Corsican traditional music is polyphony. It is closely associated with the island's identity and its rebirth coincided with the resurgence (riaquistu) of national political ambition in the seventies. Thirty years on polyphony is widely celebrated as the country's cultural expression - more than any other art form.

Traditional Corsican polyphony, following its revival in the 1970s, is now a central part of the expression of Corsican culture. There are those who stress its political importance, while others insist more on the music in its own right.

The method of a capella singing is based on three parts, whose fourth part - the voice of the angels - appears magically from nowhere and everywhere. The lead is given by the secunda, the ornamentation is provided by the terza, the highest of the trio - and then there is the bassu.

Enjoy.

EF, someone has listened......the thread has had 49 viewers!

This is pretty interesting stuff, very similar to what we have in the USA called the "Barbershop Quartets" and "A Capella quartets and choirs"

I never knew much about Corsica except it's the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. I am not a big fan of a cappella whether from here or anywhere else.

Still that is some really esoteric music you posted Tony,,,maybe if I had a few beers it would help me get into it more easily...:grinthumb

That was one of my main reasons Tray. To let people know such music is made and with what amount of talent and skill it is made.
