Re: Simon and Garfunkel

^^That's Almost is enough to tempt me to visit New Orleans Annie...:D

I know that Paul and Art have to work at performing together, they love the fan response to their concerts, but their creative differences always seem to come to the surface when they are back together for a while.

Re: Simon and Garfunkel

NEW ORLEANS – Simon and Garfunkel have been added to the lineup for this year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

The singing-songwriting duo of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel will join the previously announced Jazz Fest lineup that includes Pearl Jam, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, The Neville Brothers, Lionel Richie, the Allman Brothers Band and Anita Baker.

The festival is scheduled for the weekends of April 23-25 and April 29-May 2 at the Fair Grounds Race Course. Simon and Garfunkel will be on stage on April 24.

While Simon has performed at Jazz Fest before, this will be the duo's first time together. Festival organizers say it is also their only planned U.S. appearance for the year.

I was just notified of this in my email this morning .... You beat me to this post ....

Re: Simon and Garfunkel

I saw Simon and Garfunkel a few years ago in Sweden, what a night, they brought the Everley Brothers out on stage with them and did Bye Bye Love together. Paul also did some solos stuff too, I do like his solo stuff, in particular, "Still Crazy After All These Years". I remember sitting in a pub and hearing those first few bars, "I met my old lover on the street last night" and it stuck in my mind, what a beautiful song and so well written. I was hooked after that and purchased loads of his solo work.

After I saw them live I went out and got all the remasters of their cd's, I listened to them all over again and again and fell in love for the 2nd time. I even picked up old friends on tour DVD for £12.99 including the cd of the show and an extra unreleased track.

This music takes you to another time and place where everything is calm, so good, everybody should at least have one of their albums.

Sounds like my experience this last summer with Bob Dylan.

Lord Grendel:

What really burns my ass is that because of the inclusion of those two and live versions of the forgettable "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her" and "Kathy's Song", tunes such as "Hazy Shade of Winter" and "At the Zoo" were not included in their Greatest Hits LP:

I realize I'm late here, but Hep, come on...dissing "For Emily" and "Kathy's Song" ? Really? Those are two of the best of the poetic "quiet" material. You may be the only person on the planet that dislikes them. ;)
