I stumbled on this article........in reguards to Brad Whitfords comments on "That Metal Show" 9/03/12

Sammy Hagar was invited to replace Steven Tyler

Evidently back in 2010, Aerosmith was scouting for a replacement. But why on earth would they ask Sammy Hagar? He doesn't fit their image at all!!!!!

Wow, I doubt that would have worked out for the long haul & I know there are a lot better choices that would fit their style but I think they were just looking at Sammy's name value. They probably figured it would work out in a Van Hagar way where they could stay on top writing their post 80's Aerohits style. As much as he wouldn't have fit in with Aerosmith his name would immediately spark interest & curiosity. I really don't think he & Perry would last more than one album but that one album may have done well. I would have been pretty upset with that decision and probably would have pulled for Michael Monroe(Hanoi Rocks) or Tom Keifer (Cinderella) but neither one would gain the public's eye as Sammy would have

Was that around the same time that Tyler was auditioning to be the frontman for an attempted Led Zeppelin reunion sans Robert Plant? :bonk:

There are certain bands that can't have any of their members replaced.
the Beatles, the Rolling Stones,Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith is def one of them. I love Sammy in fact I went to see his creation Chickenfoot (who rocked) but Sammy just would not fit in the Aerosmith family. He was great when he was with Van Halen but then Gary Cerone closed down the Van Halen camp for quite a while. I've seen Aerosmith countless times and I couldn't imagine anybody else up there singing but Tyler.

keep those model subway trains running - watch the closing doors :woot:

I agree Aerozep. But I have a feeling this new album is the last we will see from Aerosmith. They will probably tour, but I doubt we will see anymore albums.

Aerosmith, Toys In The Attic was my first "rock" music that I bought with my own money! an 8-Track tape that has been worn out 35 years ago back in high school, and I still have it!!!

I listened to the entire new album a little while ago ( week or so...) and it is not
a return to their roots as promised. It has a few growers on it and I'll probably still pick it up anyway but talk about your false advertising..... :wtf:
