I have to agree that what's really disturbing about this whole episode is to hear that Keith Richards is still on such hard drugs. It really doesn't matter any more what those drugs are doing to him...he's obviously got nine lives several times over. What matters is the role model he is setting. He can say all he wants to "Don't live like I've lived," to younger musicians...but who's going to listen if he's still doing it all these decades later? They'll figure, "If he can survive it, hell, I can too." But the tragic truth is that survivors of this kind of long-term debauchery are extremely rare.
