Common answer would be rap but I don't think rap is 100% crap. There is good in that genre to me.

Now what is considered generic pop music today that is the worst garbage out there. Dubstep also is up with the worst.

I used to hate 90s boy bands, until I heard stuff like Bieber and the Jonas Brothers. That stuff makes Backstreet Boys music sound really intellectual.

This thread is almost 11 years old but felt the need to bump it up.
I was going to start a new one called 'Bands You Simply Dont Like' but this one is already here so.... Always helpful if one gives reasons but some of these bands are so mediocre and derivative that the reasons for me are obvious. And btw bad bands can be in any genre including my beloved prog rock genre ,,,,so please fire away.

Like some others here I don't care for rap /hip hop or whatever its being called these days. And that's not to confuse that with pop songs or R& B which I do like depending on the track/artist.
But what I simply don't like the most in the rock area is what I call 'hair bands' , glam metal, or hair metal , or just third tier mediocre hard rock poser bands who copy every other hard rock band to make up their sound. And there are many like this....a list from Wiki:

To be fair, sort of, there are a few on that list I would remove and a few I might add as being ok bands or crap bands , but one gets the idea from scrolling thru the list.
I see a few members here posting many of these bands in the 'what are you listening to thread' and I seriously wonder why they listen to them when there are so many better bands out there.
For example bands like KISS are at the top of my crap bands list.

ps: a few Christmases back I got a pair of socks from my grandaughter that say' Rock n Roll music snob' on them. :)

No brainer for me.... (C)Rap.

Zero redeeming quality in this shit. I've done reviews here from Abba to NIN, Willie to Blink 182.

I refuse to listen to a Hip Hop album. A blight.

100% support. It's a rhymed recitative with a primitive dull rhythm. It has to be classified like a sort of declamation, not as the music.

A couple of decades ago, one of my kids tried to get me listen through a Beastie Boys album...

I asked...

Discernable pleasureable hook? Nope
Time / Key changes to manage basic musical procession? Nope
Variation in meter and cadence? Nope
Vocal variations to counter melodic patterns- Nope
Presence of any counter melodic patterns at all? Nope
Any profound lyrical content? Nope
Multi instrumental blending to give basic melody bass- line and percussion- Nope

Nope Nope Nope...... And this could be said about any Hip Hop tune
