got into a Yngwie mood tonight.

Listened to Rising Force already. Outstanding debut album by Yngwie

Now listening to his 2nd album - Marching Out

I listen to various songs from Yngwie ever so often, but it's been a long time since I sat through a full album or two. Love the first album, but my favorite album has always been Marching Out. This was also my first taste of Jeff Scott Soto's vocals, who I happen to think is one of the best rock vocalists of all time. the more I hear from him, the more I dig the guy's singing. Yes, I realize Jeff sang on Rising Force as well, but I really didn't notice that album until after I had heard Marching out all of those years ago (28 yrs ago? wow, doesn't seem that long ago)

Great Stuff. Love the first 2 albums. Jeff's vocals where awesome. Really love Marching Out

My favorite YJM album will always be the first Rising Force album. I enjoy his instrumental music a bit more than his vocal structured stuff. I like everything he's ever released that I've heard and I never understood why everybody hates him so much.

One of the first classical metal artists!! One of the first to bring that classical guitar element and shredding and bring them together. Today there are a slew of bands that obviously were inspired by Yngwie. Or Yngwie J. Malmsteen.

So wierd to see members of Hammerfall and Stratovarius (Johannson Brothers) in the band

Black Star

Icarus Dream Fanfare {My Favorite Piece}

I'll See The Light Tonight

Derek St. Hubiins (Spinal Tap): "I bought the album the other day and I said why bother...why bother?? Use it as a coffee table, cause I can't play the thing like that. He's great! I like the way he uses Yngwie J. Malmsteen...you know so you don't confuse him with all the other Yngwie Malmsteen's in the business" :heheh:

Was just listening to Yngwie's Inspiration album a few hours ago. Some great cover tracks on that album.

Agreed. An amazing choice of songs.

I remember hearing Demon's Eye on Rebel Radio in 1996, with Joe Lynn, and I swore Rainbow had gotten back together.

The original version was so different, and I hadn't heard it in years, if ever, so I though it was a new song. It sorta was.

I have been listening to some of Yngwie's earlier Polydor records lately that he recorded during the 1980s and I also watched a 1984 dvd of Alcatrazz from Japan and as far as Yngwie is concerned the guy is way to animated on stage for my liking but his records have a strange appeal to me even though I wouldn't say I liked them 100%. He's definitely a one off.

I've always liked his stage presence. He brought something to the table most guitarists didn't do. Lots of great players over the years, but a great many just played their songs, moved around a bit and not much else. Eddie Van Halen really explored the stage. KISS used to cover the stage very well. Angus Young is another one. But these types of players/bands weren't the norm. Yngwie with his on-stage antics brought something rarely seen before him. To be able to play as fluently and effortlessly as he does and still be able to be as animated as he was always impressed me.
