My Son and I saw them Friday Night in New Hampshire.
My son's first BOC show and it's all he's been talking about since.
And he's got all his friends listening to BOC now.
Very great show in a wonderful small venue. An old time renovated theater.

It was a standard BOC show up to The Vigil when you could feel the band settle in and stretch out. (Set list is below)
Next. A killer ETI, ME 262, and then an extended Buck Boogie (Buck hasn't lost anything)
Next it looked like Eric called an audible and we got treated to some psychedelic greatness from the first album.
Screams into Beautiful as a foot. Then a great Last Days of May which turned into an all out guitar duel between Rich Castellano and Buck) Each took a long solo. A long stretched out jam.
After that Buck lightened things up with True Confessions and then a rocking Tattoo Vampire and the requisite Godzilla.
The rest of the band left the stage leaving Buck alone with his looper and he put on a fireworks show for several minutes.
Genuine guitar God material. Then the band returned and it broke into Reaper. And left the stage. Of course the crowd wasn't leaving without an encore.

Encore
Eric joked with the audience singing some local song about Mount Mondadnock
Then I Love The Night.
Next Workshop of Telescopes. More first album psychedelia. Super great live.
Ended it with a killer version of Cities of Flame with Buck totally sticking the landing at the end.

It was ample proof that they are still putting on killer shows.

I saw them a couple weeks earlier in Downers Grove IL. They didn't play as many songs; perhaps because it was a weeknight. Thanks for posting the setlist! I knew I should have brought a pen... I'm most familiar with the Cultasaurus Erectus / Fire of Unknown Origin / Revolution by Night -era material so there were a couple songs I didn't know. The lack of radio airplay sure doesn't help matters! Great show though!

The early stuff is IMO what made them special. Very unique.
In my opinion that stuff is what defines their identity.
The weird mix of psychedelia and spooky monster movie vibe.
They changed a lot. Still good just not the same thing as they were.
I love Cultasaurus but it's a whole other thing.
They seem mostly to have left the 80's sound behind for early material live
Tyranny and Mutation is currently in my headphones.

I'm not sure why the played longer in NH except that there were a lot of hard core fans. I mean totally decked out in BOC gear. They made me look like a new fan in comparison.
And the crowd was so over the top into it I think the vibe rubbed off on the band. You could see them sizing up the response and then realizing that they could play the deep tracks.

they have set lists here...

I have been listening to some BOC lately and to be honest I'm enjoying the experience. I actually have most of the bands studio albums already on cds plus a couple of live cds but never bothered to play any of them until recently anyway I am going to find and buy the few albums I still don't have over the next few weeks.

"ON YOUR FEET OR ON YOUR KNEES!!."

Great live album.

The BOC has been overshadowed by tons of commercial air play but most of their music has always been quality, even their commercial work.

But I do prefer their older content of the 70s.

By the way SanguineRemedy I noticed in Fopp Records shop in central London today (15th July 21) that a new Arthur Brown x3 or x4 cd box set was in the cd rakes I know you like Arthur Brown anyway it's the three albums that were released after the Crazy World Of Arthur Brown's debut album plus a extra cd of rare BBC sessions & outtakes plus also a recent interview with Arthur, I may well buy it myself it costs £30 in UK money it should be on Amazon I guess?.

Getting back to Blue Oyster Cult yeah they rock good I MEAN GREAT!!.

Very interesting, EZ. Thanks for letting me know. That guy is still kicking and does music here and there and he's as crazy as he was in the 60s!
