Re: "The Official Snow Patrol Thread"

Thank you guys for the great feedback and Magic for officially giving the albums a listen. I just want to state for the record that they had about two or three albums before "Final Straw" and those are the ones I don't care for myself! I think people might be under the impression that "Final Straw" is the first actual release! :)

Ok this might come in handy:

Snow patrol's albums.

* Songs for Polarbears (1998)
* When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up (2001)
* Final Straw (2003)
* Eyes Open (2006)
* A Hundred Million Suns (2008)

I have all the above albums. I don't like the last one nor the second one myself. The others are pretty good imo.

What would you suggest off of "Songs for Polarbears" OB because I actually own this as well but nothing grabbed me at all!

Re: "The Official Snow Patrol Thread"

:) The whole album Bry. It was their first actual album to be recorded... That's always worth a listen.
If you want song names:
Absolute gravity, velocity girl and One Hundred Things You Should Have Done In Bed :)rolleyes: this album has a great indie sound to it.. Pavement-like music is always good.)

:tongue:

The relaxing sounds of velocity girl:

and the alternative way they handled absolute gravity:

Re: "The Official Snow Patrol Thread"

Snow Patrol are awesome! Eyes Open is definitely a classic album, it hasn't got a weak song, Make This Go On Forever is one of my all time favourites. I also love You Could Be Happy and It's Beginning To Get To Me.

The Lightning Strike is definitely the standout from the new album, and I'm glad they made it one track when they could have easily split it up. Engines, Disaster Button and If There's A Rocket Tie Me To It are also brilliant songs from it.

Re: "The Official Snow Patrol Thread"

I'm a fan of snow patrol but really only like two albums

* Songs for Polarbears (1998)
* Final Straw (2003)

After Final Straw they got to sappy for my taste sort of went in the same direction as Coldplay. I've not heard the new album so maybe there is some hope.

Snow Patrol fan here! ............ but I have heard plenty of people knocking their music. I listen to all those pompous wankers who think they know better than everyone else and think their taste in music is better than everyone else. Of course everyone's taste is different. Anyway who cares what other people are into. I wouldn't laugh at anyone's taste in music - it's none of my business. I listen to what I enjoy and what makes me happy :)

Not a fan here, I watched some concert of theirs on TV, and I enjoyed it a bit, but I won't go out of my way to listen to them...If someone else is playing them, I won't leave the room, but I won't go out of my way to play them...
I borrowed a copy of When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up, a few years ago, and it was enjoyable to listen to, but nothing stuck out and caught my interest really...

just not my thing I guess:think:

Re: "The Official Snow Patrol Thread"

Anything? There has been only one album after that. As I said, Gary was trying to get away from the gloominess and it did not sit well with me, but "can't stand" is a little harsh.
You're right. "Can't stand" is a little harsh. They had so much potential after the first 2 albums but they went for a mainstream sound with no originality. I have Final Straw but I remember not being impressed with it. I will give it another listen.
