Am seriously loving the shit out of the new record. Sounds like they went much heavier and for me anyway it captures plenty of the musical essence they had with Tarja.
Absolutely nothing about this album that I can tell is even remotely off.

Agree with that. It's great, but one hell of an album to absorb with so much going on - not to mention its length. Definitely needs a lot more spins before I can REALLY judge it.

I thought that Floor held back a lot vocally. I thought she was going to go Wild Card beastly on it.

lol Well being her first album with the band that to an extent is to be expected. To be honest I can agree with you but that isn't necessarily a bad thing on Floor's part. I don't believe in just going beastly on an album for the pure sake of it. I think what she did suited the music just fine.

I thought that Floor held back a lot vocally.

After the first spin, I was thinking the same thing and that Floor's vocals felt drowned out in places, but after some more spins, I felt that her vocals fit in with the overall atmosphere the band was trying to create. Sometimes less is more. I generally prefer Floor's "normal" vocals over her operatic vocals anyway.

Im listening to the new Nightwish now....Definitely more to my liking then the rest of their post- Tarja material. Im actually really getting into Endless Forms Most Beautiful. Will be buying this soon.

It's a great folk metal album, in the same vein as the last two, though Floor is a major improvement vocally (or should have been).

I agree Floor held back/was held back vocally. She's capable of pretty mind blowing operatic quality when she wants to be.

Clearly Tuomas meant for this album to stay in the mold of the last two. I think that could have been accomplished and we could have had more powerful vocals.

The opening track could actually be Anette singing, that's how much Floor is held back.

Still, after the initial spins, later on down the road, I'll listen to Century Child, Once or End Of An Era more often than I'll listen to any of the three post Tarja albums.

It doesn't sound like the last two at least not as a whole.
