That said not really sure why you came here if you dislike brutal music :/
First, it's my 'job' to check out the day's threads, especially new threads and even more so when they are posted by a new user.

Second, rather than just be dismissive, I actually listened to (partially) each of the links you posted

Third ... Um, I responded because I had questions. :bonk:

I still don't and won't call it "music" any sooner than I'll call a jar full of piss with a crucifix in it "art". That's just my 2 cent's worth. Not everything that ~I~ like is overly popular either.

I don't mind you saying its not your thing or even saying its trash. What I don't like is when someone says its not music. Even when it comes to my least favorite artists (Kesha, Fall out boy, and ect) I still refer to them as music. I believe any for of art made of noise is music, because that's what music technically is. Noises. Most people are rather shallow when it comes to music though which is probably why so much of today's stuff is generic garbage because there's no real demand for innovation.

With lovers, buggers, & thieves.
Diamanda Galás is definitely an... acquired taste. By acquired , I mean you acquire it like an STD. Let me explain:

You are partying someplace you've never been before, your friends have left you there just when you had got good and drunk. You go out back to smoke a cigarette and someone is playing something cool and different on a portable radio. So you start talking about weird music that you listen to. Then, this person says "If you're into them, than you'll love this!" and puts on some
Diamanda Galás.

Yup. Oh, and once you have "acquired" it, people tend to avoid you!

But the crud you posted is not innovative. I could record my washing machine for an hour, and it would sound better. I'm sorry, I'm not sitting on the fence, that crud is not music by any sense of the meaning.

I'm a big fan of Diamanda. Definitely an acquired taste, but while she has released perhaps one of the most extreme albums I've ever heard - "Schrei X" (see link below) -, not all her music is difficult on the ears. Some of her later piano (live) albums are more toned down and I think "The Sporting Life" (from which you posted a video) is one of her best albums. Despite some vocal acrobatics, it's really just a rock album.

Btw, I saw Diamanda live a couple of years ago. Just her and a piano in a church. One of the best gigs I've ever been to!

You sound rather snobbish. Perhaps your just not brutal enough to handle it lol. Ramleh is too much for you to handle so you just insult it because you are too stubborn to try and understand that kind of thing. Hopefully you could at least enjoy this.

I asked cause I figured maybe I should suggest trying Brian Eno if you don't alreadyknow him.

I assumed that was a Beach boys thread :/

NEVER assume anything! One of those life lessons we seem to learn over and over.....lol.

Experimental MUSIC or noise (as many of us like to call it) has been around forever......

I don't know if I would call all forms of this type music ART, but instead a musical experiment. Like all experiments, some are successful some are disasters. I don't think I could EVER acquire an appreciation for any music or vocals that are grating, or extreme. My brain just does not compute those sounds as pleasurable..........

I can remember having a brief musical phase when I was younger where I liked listening to jazz. Anyway, I bought an album thinking it was jazz infused with funk. I liked funk music (and still do), so I thought I would give it a listen. The album was called 20 Jazz Funk Greats by Throbbing Gristle, even the album cover looked like a cool group. Oh man was THAT title deceptive.......it is some weird and strange stuff (almost put shit here, but I'm being respectful) :D

Beachy Head

Or the entire album if you're that adventurous

This music or noise is MILD compared to what you posted. I would classify this album as a psychedelic oddity. The plus side for noise this mild, it doesn't hurt my ears.

I recall owning that Throbbing Gristle album too ! I picked up a "Mint" copy from a market.....and sold it to a record collector for a swift quick profit. I had heard the album before and knew it was almost unlistenable, but worth a bit...to the right collector.
As for the rest of the tracks...there is nothing wrong in listening to "Extreme" noise/music.Not something I rush out and buy....but if in a certain mood etc each to their own as you say.
SWANS are a great band [ prefer more the melodic stuff with Jarboe]...some of their earlier material I tend to skip a bit....

Lou Reed's 80's noisecore album.

Almost unlistenable.

That or Yoko.
