Oh boy. I could pretty much predict what would be said and who would say it before I even opened this thread. :heheh:

And who the hell is Gene to compare his work to Madonna? Apples and oranges in my opinion as each, in their respective genres, are equally important in the music business in terms of overall influence and commercial success (actually, I believe Madonna has achieved more commercially than KISS aside from their ridiculous merchandise if I'm not mistaken).

Seems he will say whatever and pull whatever stunt it takes to stay relevant, and here we all are throwing daggers at Madonna when he's the one that whores his opinions out for publicity and she's saying nothing. Maybe he's related to the Kardashians.

Actually KISS holds a pretty strong record for the most gold and platinum albums by an American group. However the article does say that he likes Madonna...not the lip synching.

It seems that he may know what's going to happen there before it happens. We need to watch the Superbowl to find out. :grinthumb

I must have missed the humor in his comments MP. I'm sure in REAL "reality" he's a nice guy but he seems to open his mouth a lot. :grinthumb

But seriously guys, leave my Madge alone... because if Gene really does like her, we all should. :heheh: ;)

Well look at it this way...just because alot of people don't like Madonna does not mean she hasn't sold millions of records. As far as Gene and his mouth these days and the merchandise? I can see where it would be irritating from another's POV. No problem at all. :grinthumb

But I will say that growing up with them in the 70's? Had to be there. It was exciting and magical, and they gave alot of kids something to latch onto when alot of other bands were putting the audience to sleep.

They were alot of fun to have around.

MP, that's not true, at all.

Just because Paul Stanley said he fell asleep during an Emerson, Lake & Palmer concert....doesn't make this true.

Who the heck could fall asleep at an ELP concert?

:pullhair:

Funny you should say that MP because I actually forgot to include that in my first post. Madonna's music, however raunchy and controversial she has become in her later years, was an integral part of my childhood and she is my earliest music memory and holds a special place in my heart. I think even Gene can appreciate her status as a pop icon and she's up there with KISS themselves, Elvis Presley, MJ, the Beatles, etc. in terms of being a main staple as a pop icon like it or not. She is iconic and nothing and no one will change my opinion on that and those who would give her an actual chance and look past the hoopla about adopting babies and raunchy behavior and look into her work and earlier achievements more may see her differently.

But I do agree she's become notorious in recent years for attention seeking and odd behavior. I'm sure if her halftime show goes awry there will be pages of fun on here dedicated to her. :heheh:

MP, I don't think any artist or band were putting their audiences to sleep in the 70's...

This is something ''flash in the pan'' punk rock bands used to falsely claim...

unless they were talking about a Genesis concert. :heheh:

That's true. I read that when punk bands started emerging like the Sex Pistols they poked fun at the seasoned hard rock bands calling them dinosaurs at the time. Funny, those "dinosaurs" have more relevance in our times than any of those punk bands.
