Re: Any King Crimson Fans in the House?

Not Crimso.

Discipline onwards is the band Discipline.

They were called Discipline for six months and then Fripp realised that perhaps that was a mistake and reverted back to King Crimson.

Post Red is just nonsense and not worthy of the Crimso nomenclature

.
hogwash the reincarnation of KC is wonderful. The live band at its peak of Fripp, Belew, Bruford, Levin, Gunn and Pat Mastelotto was amazing. As much as I love early KC I love the after 81 band too.

In regards to the band Discipline that would be these guys who I like too

^^^I agree 100% with Aktivator. The live two CD album Vroom Vroom is fantastic. One of the best live recordings from the '90's IMO. 9/10

how does this not sound like Crimson pre Red? I guess you don't like the original Larks Tongue album?

Re: The "King Crimson" Thread

wow. breadfan is giving me a strange sense of deja vu and flashbacks at the same time. is that possible? never mind.

anyway, i dug this ole thread up for a reason.

i realize these clips have probably been put up ere now (i tried to search on em. really, i did.) however, just in case they haven't... i feel the need to share, as i love them so.

both are bonus tracks from crimson remasters (via steven wilson at the helm.) the first, from in the wake of poseidon, with greg lake singing 'cadence and cascade' instead of the original release with gordon haskell. ... nuthin against ole gordon, but greg... siiiigh.

the second, this, from the extras on court, a duo version of 'i talk to the wind', sans vocals, but gorgeous.

Re: The "King Crimson" Thread

Steven Wilson is one talented musician/producer. I am not a big fan of remasters but once in a while I am impressed with the result and rare tracks as well.

Re: The "King Crimson" Thread

You must of been dropping LSD at awful young age(?).:omg:

Pretty hard for anyone to match up to Lake's vocals. Really, it's not fair to compare the two IMO. Both beautiful tracks. I prefer the original "Wind" but Lake's version of "Cadence"is captavating. Heaven.

Wilson is a magician in the studio. He has to be one of the busiest and most sought after musician/producer out there today.

don't believe a word of it, man.

i didn't drop a single hit of acid until i was 72.*

^^^I was just jivin' ya child. I had a thought it would roll off your back being from the Big Easy. I didn't know there was green marmosets from Frippian. Pink elephants, breathing walls, moving sidewalks, etc., yes, but conspiring green marmosets.:pullhair:

On a serious note I always wondered if Fripp felt vindicated when he grabbed Bruford from Yes for the loss of Lake to ELP(?).

ya know, the frippster is such an odd beast, i think it's rather difficult to tell at any given moment what he feels about anything... unless, of course, yer in the audience at one of his shows, and you do something stupid, like try to take a pic of him. then you end up with a very snippy frippy indeed.

mind ya, i love the man. do you ever read his diary online? sometimes it's a real blast. one of my fave series of photos in there was when fripp put up pics last fall of steven wilson when he was hard at word remixing starless & bible black for 5.1. and the 'psychic horror' he did face...
