Being TRULY pretty is NOT an opinion...it's a FACT***:
That's ridiculous.

It just depends on what one would consider to be truly pretty. Which in term would make it an opinion. I can understand what you're saying, but there are many different terms of what "being pretty" means. Though, I am in agreement with a few people here, sure she's not the best looking person to come into music, but her music makes up for that indefinitely.
Janis Joplin maketh me drool. Her personality brings an achin' to my heart. Her car says she had good taste and her choice in drugs tell me she was lonely.
Why couldn't I have been born earlier.

To be pretty to "look at" and to be PRETTY are two diff things ***:
Indeed...and I am looking at Janice's conventional outward appearance, which was gruff, far from graceful, unkempt, nondelicate, semi-masculine, unsightly, and a slew of other unflattering descriptives.
Sure everyone has a bad hair day, but when 98% of her public and private appearances has shown her looking bad....then I consider her NOT HOT!
She was a hippie, and she liked looking that way. I am not going to whack her for her outward character, but that doesn't mean I think it was Hot (attractive) at all. I feel the opposite, appearing unkempt and dirty is not flattering or pretty......
but I would bet my farm she was PRETTY fun to hang out with
