Absolutely COOL LOU.

The sax incorporated in prog, blues rock, jazz-fusion and even in some prog/metal adds a "cool" element. Here are some of my favs:

I like sax in some situations. Pink Floyd , Hawkwind, Bowie (on occasion )
Traffic, Stones etc. used them very well. While I'm not a HUGE fan of brass in rock it can sound awesome .Alto Sax especially IMO.

I may as well get in a rip. I despise the saxophone. It sounds UGLY. It's OBNOXIOUS. I hate the sound. It's by far the worst sounding brass (or whatever you term it) instrument...And it is very uncool. It's not rock n roll. It really pisses me off, when an otherwise good song, is hacked like meat by a cleaver, when a god damned sax solo is inserted where a guitar solo should be. The Stones do that a lot, and it wrecks the song, and it irritates the hell out of me. However, there are a few songs where the sax sounds good (I can't think of them right now, and I'm sure they aren't rock tunes anyway).


I hate the sax, it's ugly, obnoxious, it's uncool, and it's NOT Rock n Roll.
