There is more than one rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland, Ohio. In response to most peoples' disappointment with the "actual" rock hall the radio station 9.85 WNCX ("Cleveland's Home for Classic Rock") has opened their own Rock and Roll hall of Fame (not a physical building) with inductees voted in by popular vote from pretty much anyone within range of their airwaves.
This is the station that plays all day when I'm at work and they've been inducting new inductees all week and I thought their choices were very solid so...yeah, why not post it and see if people think this is a more respectable Hall of Fame for rock icons in "The Rock 'n' Roll Capital of the World".

Er... it's decent but it glossed over everybody from the other Rock Halls' first 4 or 5 years. We're talking the guys who built rock: the blues masters, country & folk pioneers, 50s rock n roll.

I like their no nonsense attitude, just get down to business with no filler. But inducting Bob Seger and Bad Company before Bob Dylan is more ridiculous than anything the other Rock Hall has ever done. The Rock Hall has done a lot of ridiculously stupid stuff but nothing quite that bad.

Other than those two things, I dig it.

I agree. Bad Company and Bob Segar don't deserve a spot, imo.

That's up to taste...sure. But what's cool is it's still people's choice.

The HOF isn't.

A couple guys voting on what's cool does not make it so to the rest of the world.

Please excuse me while I put on my "Devil's Advocate - Elitist" hat for a moment.

There's a good reason that the Hall doesn't give votes to people, and that is that the Hall is there to acknowledge the bands that are influential and have had a lasting impact on the genre, NOT bands that people really really like. People can go on and on about what rock 'n roll is and is not about, but one thing it sure as hell is NOT is a popularity contest.

Quite frankly, the HOF largely fails to be either a measure of popularity or a measure of impact/influence/importance. At once, they ignore popular opinion, and disregard many influential bands based on their own musical preferences. It's a farce.

I still like the real HOF better than the one mentioned in the OP. At least the real HOF has a handful of punk bands.

Good points...I guess...I still don't think me and a couple friends could start a HOF and nominate a great 60's band like Heather Black or The Move....or a cool band like the Dictators and expect everyone to get it.

Maybe Skafish....Throbbing Gristle while we're at it.

It would be us just trying to give them additional publicity that we felt they deserved. Don't think we could get the majority to give a s***

 :heheh:
