I suppose Im not by your standards, haha

Anyway, how are they "influential" lol?

No you are not be anymeans not even my standards.

If you have to ask how they are influential then you do not know a thing about music.

The image, their nihilistic lyrics, their not carign attitude, their out of control shows, etc etc etc. It all carried over into other forms of punk (hardcore, street punk, anarcho punk, crust punk, even heavy metal) and alternative rock as well.

What losers did this piece of crap influence?

Let's be friggin' real.

Elvis was the best and most influential front men in rock 'n roll history...now, that's something you can't argue. :D

Um he did say ONE OF. Which means one of the many great influential front men around.

Evlis was hardly the greatest front man. Again it can be argued since musical taste is subjective. Was he ONE OF? yes but THE? no. There is no THE BEST in anything.

Yeah hes nothing compared to Johny Rotten :D

And also, The Clash and The Buzzcocks were far more influential in the british punk genre, along with the Dead Kennedys and the Ramones.

Oh, for crying out loud. Shut the hell up and get on with the damn thread. Jesus christ.

"Influential" is a wide and essentially vague term. It's about as good of a word as "good". I think Johnny Rotten was a decent frontman for the music he was selling. He was a hell of a crazy bastard with a voice that'll make your flesh crawl (but somehow, you just have to dig it). There's no denying the flocks of wannabes that surfaced after the dissolution of the Sex Pistols, though.

You really can't compare Johnny Rotten to Elvis Presley. That's just asinine considering the ways of the world in the 50s compared to the mid-70s. Elvis was a really big deal - he was also considered a little too obscene to be shot from the waist-down! But that was the 50s/60s. Completely different social norms. There's no denying the tons of screaming, fainting, pants-creaming girls, though. Elvis was a fox, and a talented one, at that.

By the way I'm glad to see Deborah Harry on the list. Oh, how she makes my heart glow.

I think I know a bit more about music then you. I go outside the box and do not stick to two eras. I think it is you who needs to learn something.

Ive added to my post.

The Ramones. The ones who started the whole punk rock thing. Oh and they released more than one album too.

Dont think I dont know anything about music, son.
