Classic song from a classic movie. You got great vocals, a catchy melody, and your required sax solo to make your 80s hit. 8/10

If an Eric Carmen song passes for rock, then I'm going to add some Blondie to this thread.

Also amazing the difference in musical taste......a 7.5 for Jefferson Airplane (a classic track imho) yet 9 for a mediocre pop Blondie track.....really?

What to say, man, I never was a huge fan of hippie-era bands from West Coast. And for example, in my life the glam-metal era (hated by many people) means disproportionately more, than Jefferson Aiplane, Grateful Dead and Santana taken together (in particular I don't listen to Carlos Santana at all. He's respected musician, but I never liked and never understood his band's music). :dunno:

Probably generational...I grew up with classic rock including thr Beatles and Stones. etc....with out those bands the newer metal and hair bands would have had no music to emulate or alter.
There is certainly good music in all the later genres after the birth of classic rock but to my ears the later bands were just trying to re-write it and not capturing the same essence and heart but again its an era thing (cultural) related to the times.

You know, I'm a fan of The Beatles, Stones, The Who, Beach Boys, The Kinks, Pink Floyd Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, LZ, Sabbath, Nazareth, UFO, etc.
I've listened to all of them since I was in utero - thanks to my mom :) . But specifically the era of flower-children and all their cult American bands completely passed me by. It didn't catch me.
I love The Doors, but they weren't "hippie" band (I know, that Jim hated all those flower things).

Ok, it was an off-topic. How about to rate Michael Schenker Group? Maybe next time? :grinthumb

Well....to me MSG is just an extension of UFO.....a more 'modern'
sound perhaps. I like the first 3 or 4 lps by UFO..they contained space rock with hard rock...the later things were generic hard rock to me. The beginning of 'hair bands' that did generic by the numbers hard rock which UFO after 1975 certainly helped influence imho.
I give MSG 7/10,,,being generous cause I know thats your area and Schenker is a decent player.

Would much rather listen to heavy bands in this genre......to me this is 10 x more interesting on all levels . Grab a drink its a long one...................... :geetar: play it louder than normal.....
