Probably generational...I grew up with classic rock including thr Beatles and Stones. etc....with out those bands the newer metal and hair bands would have had no music to emulate or alter.
There is certainly good music in all the later genres after the birth of classic rock but to my ears the later bands were just trying to re-write it and not capturing the same essence and heart but again its a an era thing.
You know, I'm a fan of The Beatles, Stones, The Who, Beach Boys, The Kinks, Pink Floyd Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, LZ, Sabbath, Nazareth, UFO, etc.
I've listened to all of them since I was in utero - thanks to my mom

. But specifically the era of flower-children and all their cult American bands completely passed me by. It didn't catch me.
I love The Doors, but they weren't "hippie" band (I know, that Jim hated all those flower things).
Ok, it was an off-topic. How about to rate Michael Schenker Group? Maybe next time?
