^^I probably watch as many DVD's/VHS tapes as television shows myself, PBS and a couple specialty channels being my favorites.

I get more listening to music than watching movies or TV, my imagination takes me away from the mundane reality we live in.

But it's good to have a few of the peeps pick their TV's, keeps things in perspective.

Who watches television anymore.? Funny I dont have cable nor a dish... why.? I go to Hulu.com and Crackle.com.. Need I say more, plus anywhere else on the net.

With a JVC surround sound system running through a 482i SonicMaximizer, watching it on a ASUS VH242H 23.6-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor.. I dont bother being in the living room.. EXCEPT for RetroTelevisionNetwork and Antenna TV, Its shows what BOTH "Nick at night" and "TV land" use to show before they turned to sh*t. But my regular television is also running through stereo... after watch TV through a great sound system and then watching it somewhere else through 3.5 speakers... you seriously have to ask.. "How can you watch TV this way.? Its depressing.

First, nice to see you back for a visit Judd.

Second...there is nothing wrong with a beautiful large screen television, they look excellent when you have all the proper HD channels. Some TV's have pretty good sound, not as good as a multi-speaker set up but still very good quality, so I can understand some people who like movies more picking them.

My new PC has a beautiful 24" HD WS and looks great when I play games, but I don't use it to watch TV or movies.

Well...greetings back to you Lord Grendel,

My "dingus" (not real name but hes one) 5 month old ACD is driving me nuts, thank the maker for warm weather, bought a Hoover F5914 steam cleaner (this thing ROCKS).. for obvious reasons and trying to complete my Saga LC-10 kit with a Washburn Wonderbar for it. (this will ROCK as well). Good thing, Im self-employed, none if this stuff would ever get done... :pullhair:

back to the thread........

High-Definition..... who came up with this lame ass marketing concept anyway..?

Theres only "ONE" device in the entire universe thats truly High-Definition, wanna guess what that is... give you a clue.. your using them right this very second.. its impossible to make a screen the same lines of resolution, it be so freekin big that the human eye couldnt see the who picture. it be a complete waste, and worse who could afford it.? If everything including some of those bad videos on youtube ran 1024x768 AND at 192 Kbps and standing a few feet away... who give a sh*t, thats about as close as your ever going to get.

But DVDs are at 700 x something or 900 x something (cant remember.. but close), dont know blu-ray... and dont care. If you bought a blu ray player and DVDs and everything else was substandard... what was the point to this mission.? After all the rest, just how much are up in debt now..?

The TV in the living room is tubed (mono) with (I guess) a cheap converter with a philips standard DVD.. But I still have to run all audio through my old Panasonic VCR (which took a dump while back, but dont care, its for stereo only). I would guess it would be something for the "Guest room" or the kiddies, anything of serious gear is on this system.. all my entertainment money goes to this system.. Im happy with what I have on it, but I still like to get a Optimus 31 2025 spectrum equalizer. It has a audio imager on it.. really nice too.

BUT thats does not count my music gear... I have a long list that Im watching on eBay... the right time at the right price. LOTS of cool toys.

^^That's quite a post...I don't know anything about musical instruments and the associated gear that goes with them, just stereo and video equipment.

I passed on Blu-Ray,,,and according to what I've heard coming out of Japan there is another vastly superior format being prepared for release in the next year or two that will make Blu-Ray obsolete. Not sure if I'll bother upgrading to the new latest greatest either, I am happy with what I have right now.
